A Pictorial Account of this Historic Visit

While in Washington, Miss Hannah visited the House Committee on Agriculture.  Here, Miss Hannah sits at the Chairman's (Rep. Larry Combest, R-Texas) seat in the Committee's Hearing Room.

Miss Hannah visited dozens of Congressional offices during the week of April 8, 2002 to let Members of congress know that grassroot dairy producers are opposed to the proposed dairy import assessment.

While Miss Hannah is not eligible to be a Member of Congress, several Congressman, such as Representative Joe Barton, graciously allowed Miss Hannah to see their office and even rest her tired hooves at their desks.

Since this was Miss Hannah's first visit to Washington, DC she made a point to schedule sime time in her busy schedule to visit some of the more popular tourist sights.  Here, with the Jefferson Memorial in the background, Miss Hannah visits the Cherry Blossms.

Miss Hannah taking the time to smell the flowers.  She reportedly quipped, "Very few things are best done in a hurry.  It is important to stop and smell the flowers.  Unfortunately, Congress doesn't seem to realize this.  The dairy import assessment is being stampeded through the Congress without the benefit of even one public hearing on the matter."

Wherever Miss Hannah went in Washington, she was surrounded by fans and onlookers.  Here, Miss Hannah has her picture taken with the Chief of the D.C. police force, Charles Ramsey.
