In its 19 years of existence, The Aegis Group has effectively
represented clients on a variety of issues. In a bold and innovative
manner, The Aegis Group has dared to go where others could not possibly imagine.
Below is a modest list of some of the successes enjoyed by clients.
- Defeated the U.S. State Department's efforts,
on two occasions, to grant a Generalized System of
Preferences (GSP) petition for Goya cheese filed
by the Hungarian Government.
- Launched a U.S. General Accounting Office
Report on the GSP program. The report was
the first review of the program in 10 years.
The report was used by the U.S. Congress to make
significant changes to the GSP program.
- Secured passage of legislation which protected efficient passage at land
borders threatened by onerous provisions contained in Section 110 of the
Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant
Responsibility Act of 1996.
- Developed the U.S.-Canadian Caucus of Mayors (USCCOM) - the first
non-profit international organization to provide a platform for mayors from
both sides of the border to work together for the mutual benefit of their
local communities.
- Launched a U.S. General Accounting Office investigation on State Trading
Enterprises (STEs) and their unfair trading practices distorting international
and domestic markets in a variety of commodity markets.
- Prevented passage of state legislation with respect to the Washington
State Ferry System which would have prohibited aspects of client’s operations.
Sponsors agreed to address client’s interests in future legislation.
- Provided testimony to the European Parliament's Committee on Agricultural
and Rural Development
- Attended all ministerial meetings of the WTO and petitioned GATT
negotiators.
- Staged a gathering of dairy industry leaders and media personalities to
high- light client’s concerns. The Roundtable resulted in several favorable
articles and editorials and a change in U.S. dairy trade policy.
- Created, within 3 months, an exchange program endorsed by an international
chamber of commerce and obtained visas to permit employment/training for
foreign personnel.
