Alexander B. Walker

Director of Strategic Government Affairs & Business Development

Since obtaining his MA in Government from Georgetown University in August 2019, Alexander has contributed to the Aegis Group in a variety of ways. In addition to maintaining Aegis’ office in Austin, Tx, Alexander supports the Aegis Group by working with the Senior Managing Director to develop and execute government relations strategies for clients, conducting legislative and policy research and analysis, and engaging in business development activities for the firm.

Alexander is skilled at producing detailed, easily digestible reports that provide clients with the information, analysis, and policy recommendations required to guide their decisions in ways that benefit and achieve their policy goals and priorities. Alexander also assists with the development and implementation of media campaigns. By increasing stakeholder visibility and forming alliances between policymakers and their constituencies, Alexander monitors and massages clients’ policy goals via legislative initiatives and media outlets.

Alexander has extensive research experience and is adept at analyzing and synthesizing information to create reports and memos that empower the firm to successfully advocate for our clients. Notably, he managed a multi-staged research phase for a federal contract with the Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services administration. His analytical proficiency directly contributes to the success of advocacy efforts by ensuring that our firm has a full comprehension of the issue at hand and can identify and devise solutions to potential advocacy obstacles before they occur.

Alexander is also skilled at building relationships and is an effective communicator in both written and verbal form. His ability to gain the trust of clients and develop relationships with elected representatives, legislative staff, and other stakeholders increases the effectiveness of Aegis’ advocacy activities.

Alexander received his Master's in American Government with a focus on government media relations at Georgetown University and his Bachelor's in Government at the University of Texas at Austin (summa cum laude). While at UT, Alexander served as Vice President for Pi Sigma Alpha (the national political science honor society) and was inducted into numerous academic and leadership honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa. His Master’s thesis, titled “Framing Effects on Public Opinion - Comparison of Frames in Traditional and Social Media: A Guide for Strategic Communicators and Academics in the Contemporary Information Environment", analyzed how framing efforts have changed due to the increasing use of social media among the public and presented a list of best practices for strategic communicators in the digital age.
